First off, we need to figure out the size of grow tent we are going to need. To do this, you need to sit down and really take a look at what plants you want to raise depending on the size and amount of crop you’ll want to grow will greatly affect the type of row can’t you need. Be sure that you have a good measurement of the room your cross will take up. To do this, look up the standard size and amount of room each plant can grow. If you end up crowding your plants too much, then they will grow poorly or may not even grow it all.
Give Them Space
Never try to mix plants together. You can’t grow a root plant like a potato and cabbage in the same pot or one takes every other. When there are too many plants in one space and they will start a fight over the vital nutrients that they need to grow. This little leave both plants dogging or a small harvest from both of them. It does survive on the other then it can still turn out being smaller than it could have been if it had its own space to grow. Just like humans plants need their own space in order to grow healthy and properly.
Figure Out Your Space
You need to figure out if you wanted indoor or an outdoor grow tent. When you’re looking at a grow tent, the first thing you want to figure out is where you want to put it. If it’s inside, then you’re going to have a lot less space to work with than if you were to put one outside. You can’t just cram your grow tent in a closet or a small space, you’re going to have to put it in a well-ventilated area that it will be safe in. This means clearing out a room or a basement and finding a proper place where your tent can be kept safely.
If you’re having a grow tent outside, be sure you pick one with a sturdy structure. What most people don’t know about is that a lot of them are actually made for indoor use. When buying a grow tent, make sure that it is specifically branded with outside use on the box. If you don’t see a brand new for outside use, it may be best to skip that model. If you buy an indoor grow tent for outdoor use, then the weather can take it down easily. They’re not made to stand up to strong winds or rampant weather. Even if they do survive, they can easily get punctured, get frost or bugs that can end up damaging your crops in the long run.
Next, we’re going to talk about one of the worst problems people face with a grow tent. That is the improper distribution of light. In order to grow best in the grow tent, you’re going to have to have a lot of organization within it. You need to plan your lights around your plants to make sure that the light source is properly distributed throughout your whole space. You can’t just have a grow tent with good enough lighting. You’re going to have to find a way for every plant within the tent to have an even amount of lighting in order to get the best harvest.
You’re also going to have to find lights that don’t run too hot but give off the most amount of highlight that they can a small space. T5 lights are really good for this as they don’t run too hot and they could be put about 2 inches away from the plants. This means that they work perfectly in a small space and still give you an effective amount of light energy to help you. If you try to put in a light that is too hot, they are going to wither and die. You have to learn how to balance out the light and temperature of your grow tent in order to make it successful.
Watch Them Grow!
Next, all you’re going to need to watch your plants extremely closely. This means checking on them every few days to make sure that they’re not growing the wrong way. If the plant starts to grow into the other plants due to the tiny amount of room in a grow tent, it can become a problem quickly. You’re going to need to then prune and keep your plants and check and make sure they all growing healthy and don’t ever power each other. This is easy to do and will just take a little time each week to ensure everything is growing properly.
Some people even suggest putting things like chicken wire in between the plants so it will catch any out of place growth. The chicken wire will also help you cut the leaves easier if they start to go through it by giving you an easy measurement of the space that each plant is being allotted just to make your life a lot easier in the long run.
What Goes Up
While it may take a bit of engineering, one of the best uses of spacing is to actually grow vertically. By using vertical space, you are actually in the amount of room that you can use for growing. That just means you’re going to have to put in more work to make sure your plants are secure but overall it will give you a bigger harvest and more room to work with. Make sure that you still leave enough space where you can get in between the plants and groom them as needed. Make everything as tight as it can be so that it’ll leave you enough room for your plants when they need it. Also, make sure and see if there is a weight limit for your tent and add extra supports if possible.
